Why learn French?
- With French being the official language in 52 States, it makes it the 2nd most important language on a political point of view.
- French is not only spoken in France, but also in Belgium, Monaco, parts of Switzerland and Canada as well as in the French Caribbean, 22 African nations and 3 Asian countries (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia). French is also spoken by 1.7 million people in the United States. Overall, 109 million people speak French in the world today.
- If we count countries where French is taught as a second language (black Africa and some Arab nations), it is said that over 500 million people speak French in the world.
- Learning French will help you learn your own language at the same time. Even though English is mainly a Germanic language, French has had an enormous impact on it over the centuries. It is actually the largest donor of foreign words in English.
- French is the second most commonly taught language in the world (after English) which creates a high probability that it will come in handy sometime in your life.
